What is a sponsorship?

I grew up in the fear of the Lord because I was taught the Christian way by my grandmother. I would visit her on summer vacations, and before I even knew how to read I knew about God, sin, and salvation. When I was 19 years old I decided to declare my faith in the Lord Jesus through baptism, and soon after I was elected to be a youth leader in the local church. In June 1997 I went to a presentation of Bible study materials with other leaders, pastors, and bible teachers in Haleg, which is 50 Kilometers from my town.I didnít know that the Lord Jesus was preparing a special meeting for me that day.I was concerned about how I was going to return to my house when a pastor sitting close to me offered to take me with his car.I had never met that men before and I have never seen him since. On the way home he began to ask me if I knew what the Bible says in Matthew 6:33, and I could not recall at that time, so he pulled his car over and began to share the Gospel with me.He opened my eyes to see that it did not count to be baptized and be a leader in the church.I thought that as long as I was not a criminal or an adulterer or an alcoholic, then I was a child of the Lord and I would go to heaven. He taught me that one lie was sufficient enough to send me to hell.We prayed together and I praised the Lord for his grace in saving me.He continued to show me that there is no greater calling than to be a servant of God.I memorized Matthew 6:33 and put it in my heart, and from that day forward I have done my best to seek the Lordís Kingdom and His righteousness. On that day everything my grandmother taught me from the Bible made sense.I decided to renounce my dream of being a Police officer and the next year I was enrolled in Seminary. When I started my ministry at Golgotha Baptist church, I came up against two obstacles. The members from the church had dissensions, and the people from the village had stone hearts to the gospel. With Godís help we were able to build a unified church that still has a monthly lunch together, and I baptized 3 people from the village, by Gods Grace.
