†††I live in a remote village. There is no bus or train. If I want to go anywhere, I have to walk at least 10 miles or go on a bicycle or bullock cart to catch a bus or train to go to different villages. We have in our village many Hindu and Moslem mosques but not even a single church. Most of our people are illiterate. From my childhood, I was taught in the Hindu faith to worship idols and I did this to satisfy my parents but I did not feel happiness or relief. My father was a Hindu religious leader and I was supposed to follow in his steps and become a priest.

†††One day, two men came to our village on a motor scooter. Everyone gathered around them to see this thing they were riding. They gave us pieces of paper that told about Jesus. I took mine home with me and my parents told me to throw it away but I would not. I wanted to read it to learn more about Him. They abused me and scolded me whenever I would mention about Jesus Christ.

†††My desire to know Him increased more and more. I found the address of a Baptist Church on the tract and I went there to meet the pastor. We talked for more than two hours. Tears came to my eyes and shivering, I knelt down and asked God to save me from my sins. I accepted Him as my personal Saviour. With this joy in my heart, I went home and my parents asked me to leave.

One day when I was distributing tracts in a town, the police arrested me, thinking it was anti-government literature, and I was held for two days. But even in prison, I preached about Jesus. While there, I learned that my father was on his deathbed. I went home to see him and he asked me to leave Jesus, but I refused. When I told him no, his heart failed and he died. A month later, my mother asked me and I politely denied her request. That night, she took poison and killed herself. Because of Christ, I lost my father, I lost my mother, and the village people abused me. I suffered all of these troubles.

†††Two years later I was married. We started a small prayer group which increased in number. I built a prayer hall with palm leaves, bamboo and mud. We have over 60 members in my church. I led them all to Christ.
